Daniel Campbell, 30 of Beechwood Road in Nuneaton, has been charged with threatening or abusive words and behaviour, five counts of assaulting a police officer, and one count of cannabis possession.
He will next appear in Coventry Magistrates Court on 19 September.
This follows the events of 14 May at around 8:25pm, when officers attended a report of a man having a fight with a member of staff at a fast-food restaurant on Queens Road in Nuneaton.
The man allegedly assaulted a staff member before reportedly fleeing the premises.
Following an area search officers made an arrest on Hillary Road bridge, and a bag of cannabis was reportedly found on his person.
The man was reportedly verbally abusive and threatening towards officers while in custody, and allegedly attempted to kick and punch two officers.
This was reportedly followed by the man spitting blood at the faces of the five officers attempting to restrain him.
