Over the past weekend we arrested 15 people for drink and drug driving related offences.
We will continue to patrol hotspot areas over the new year looking for drivers who have chosen to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Inspector Si Paull said: “We want people to have a happy New Year with their friends and families and that’s why we are working hard to remove drink and drug drivers from the roads.
“Please do your bit to keep our roads safe by never driving after drinking or taking drugs. If you are going out drinking, please plan ahead and book a taxi, stay within walking distance of home, or arrange to stay with friends.”
The arrests included a man who was spotted by our friends in CCTV at Rugby Borough Council. They reported seeing a man they suspected of being drunk getting into a car. Officers were close by and were quickly on scene to detain him.
Another arrest was made after our officers reported seeing a driver jumping a red light in Bond Gate, Nuneaton.
We also arrested a man after he was found in a damaged car in Stratford.
