We’re excited to open opportunities for people to join Warwickshire Police as call handlers in our control room.
An incredibly rewarding job, call handlers – or Communications Officers – are the first point of contact when someone calls 999 or 101 or raises a report via our website.
Often speaking to people in their darkest hour, the job offers a sense of satisfaction like no other.
Whether it’s a missing person, suspicious incident, collision, or domestic incident, you’ll always go home knowing you’ve made a difference.
While no two days in the control room are ever the same, you’ll be given the relevant training to help you help others and manage calls covering all manner of situations.
Ideally you would be calm under pressure – making decisions quickly but effectively – and have experience working in a team. You’ll also need five GCSEs (or equivalent) at A*-C (including English Language).
Our call handlers come from all walks of life – bringing with them a multitude of different experiences and we’re keen to add to our ranks.
If you think this sounds interesting, follow us on social media as we’ll be posting more over the next few weeks so you can learn more about the life of a call handler, what the job involves, and how to apply.
You can also discover what it’s like to work for Warwickshire Police on our YouTube page.
