Stephen Cheshire, 62 of Kingswood Road, Nuneaton, has been charged with attempted robbery.
He will appear in Coventry Magistrates Court on 19 April for his first hearing.
This is following an incident at around 3:00pm on 17 April during which a man allegedly entered a bank on Bridge Street in Nuneaton and demanded money while reportedly pretending that he had a gun in his coat pocket.
The man was reportedly challenged by a member of bank staff, at which point he allegedly removed his hand from his pocket and remained in the branch until police arrived to arrest him.
