A 75-year-old woman from Atherstone was arrested yesterday (17 April) on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control.
This follows an incident on Packington Lane in Meriden on 25 November 2023 during which it is alleged that a dog has bitten another person causing an injury, and that a dog believed to have been involved in a fatal attack was allegedly moved before the arrival of police on the scene.
The 75-year-old woman has been bailed until 30 June. Investigations are ongoing.
DI Buckley said “It is important to remember that dogs, as lovely as they can be, do have the capacity to lash out and seriously injure or kill if they are not kept under control.
“We take all reports of out-of-control dogs extremely seriously, and hiding an animal that has hurt someone from us is grossly irresponsible and a threat to public safety.”
