In the early hours of this morning (26 April) we responded to a report of an assault on Tudor Road in Nuneaton.
On arrival, a woman was taken to hospital with a head injury, and a man was found to have locked the front door of the property and refused entry. He claimed to have damaged the gas pipes inside the property.
As a result, the nearby houses were evacuated until gas engineers could attend the site and determine whether any damage had been caused, and police negotiators were called.
Police eventually gained access to the property and attending gas engineers discovered that no damage had been caused to the pipes and nearby residents were able to move back into their homes.
Following this, a 36-year-old man from Nuneaton was arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage.
Attending gas engineers discovered that no damage had been caused to the pipes and nearby residents were able to move back into their homes by around 6am.
Investigations are ongoing.
