A Coventry man who attacked a woman with a knife, leaving her requiring surgery, has been jailed for almost five years.
In November 2022, 54-year-old Baki Karim of Middlemarch Road in Coventry, attacked a woman in a Kerseley End home.
Karim armed himself with a knife and stabbed the woman around nine times while screaming threats and obscenities.
The victim was rushed to University Hospital Coventry where she required surgery.
Karim was promptly arrested and then charged with Grievous Bodily Harm and possession of a knife.
And at Warwick Crown Court yesterday, 5 October, he was sentenced to 57 months and handed a 20-year restraining order against the victim.
DC Stowe of Warwickshire Police said: “Karim is a dangerous, callous individual and it is good news for the community that he is now behind bars.
“Like all bullies, he is a coward. As soon as officers arrived he began trying to extract sympathy.
“He then told a pack of lies in his interview in an attempt to avoid facing justice.”
