Detectives have arrested a 43-year-old man on suspicion of aggravated burglary after a Good Samaritan was reportedly assaulted when he investigated a suspicious incident in Rugby.
In the early hours of Thursday, 29 June, a man was reportedly assaulted by three men when he went to investigate suspicious behaviour outside a property on Lime Tree Avenue in Bilton.
And yesterday, 3 July, detectives from Rugby’s Proactive CID arrested a 43-year-old man on Railway Terrace.
He was brought into custody on suspicion of aggravated burglary and fraud – and has since been further arrested on suspicion of being involved in a separate burglary in Northamptonshire.
As of this afternoon, 4 July, he has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
Detective Inspector Gareth Unett said: “We’re not going to tolerate this in our town.
“The investigation continues, and I would like to once again ask that anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious on Lime Tree Avenue at around 1.13am on 29 June calls us or visits, citing incident 19 of 29 June.
“Do you live in the area and have CCTV? If so, please check it and contact us if have captured anything suspicious.”
