The force continues its efforts to tackle vehicle crime with five arrests over the last two days.
On Monday (16 January) evening, officers responding to reports of lorries being broken into at Corley Service Station. Officers attended and stopped a car nearby and seized tools and a large quantity of alcohol. They arrested a 30-year-old man from Northampton and a 41-year-old man from Nuneaton on suspicion of theft.
Yesterday (Tuesday 17 January) morning, officers investigating the theft of a Range Rover from Corley earlier in the month arrested a 36-year-old man from Nuneaton on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.
Yesterday evening, officers investigating the theft of a car from Rugby in the early hours of the morning arrested a man after stopping the vehicle on the A4177 near Hatton. Officers also seized another car stolen from a house during a burglary in Coventry, and suspected class A drugs. A 39-year-old man from Coventry was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, burglary and possession of class A drugs. A 28-year-old man from Coventry was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, burglary, interfering with a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified and possession of class A drugs.
These arrests come off the back of a man being jailed for vehicle crime offences last week.
Inspector Wayne Reynolds, vehicle crime lead for Warwickshire Police, said: “Tackling vehicle crime is a top priority for the force. This action and the proactive approach being taken to tackle vehicle crime should act as a warning to criminals that we are looking for you and we are making it as difficult as possible for you to operate in Warwickshire.
“It is important the public help us make the county as hostile as possible for criminals by taking simple steps to protect their vehicles. Most importantly, if you see anyone acting suspiciously around vehicles call 999 immediately.”
