Thank you to everyone who shared our wanted appeal and provided information on the location of Outfitter offender Jay White, who was wanted on recall to prison.
Jay White, 22-years-old of no fixed abode was arrested on Tuesday 1 August when two officers from Nuneaton & Bedworth SNT, who had visited a supermarket on Queens Road for lunch, were alerted to his presence by a member of the public who claimed he had just stolen from the store.
Jay, who had been on the run for some time, had attempted to leave the store with a black bag with just over £36 of clothes washing gel. He had been captured on CCTV at another supermarket in early July making off with approximately £120 worth of detergent.
Jay was reported to have just boarded a rideshare service from the supermarket.
When the vehicle pulled over for the police, Jay made an effort to escape, hurdling a fence before being trapped and arrested in a nearby garden.
On Wednesday 2 August, Jay was found guilty of theft from a shop following two separate incidents of shoplifting, and has now received a fine of £200 with an additional victim’s surcharge of £80, in addition to being returned to prison to complete a sentence for burglary. He had been released but failed to adhere to the terms of his licence.
Operation Outfitter is a targeted effort to stop the criminal activities of twelve individuals across Nuneaton and Bedworth who are believed to be responsible for a disproportionate level of offending in the area.
Sergeant Ryan Walker said “We’ve been on Jay’s trail for a while now, so it’s extremely satisfying to be able to say we’ve managed to make the arrest.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who gave us information through the appeal, and to the officers of Nuneaton and Bedworth SNT for all their hard work in pursuing this individual.
“Particular praise is due for the quick reactions of PCs Thurgood and Loveridge on their extremely productive lunch break.”
