A man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding after a man suffered a stab wound during a robbery in Rugby yesterday (Saturday 14 May) evening.
Police were deployed to Bilton Road near to the junction with Dunster Close at 8.29pm following reports that a man had been stabbed and had his motorbike stolen.
The man in his 40s was found with a serious injury to his abdomen and was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery overnight. He is currently in a stable condition.
The 32-year-old suspect was arrested a short time later in Wentworth Road. He was taken to hospital with a head injury and police are waiting to question him.
The motorbike was later recovered.
Detective Inspector Cawail Wong said: “We fully understand how shocking this incident is for the local community and we’d like to reassure them a thorough investigation is underway.
“We’re working hard to establish the full circumstances that led to this terrifying incident. I’d urge anyone with information to get in touch as a matter of urgency.
“Residents will continue to see increased levels of police activity while enquiries are carried out.”

Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
