A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences following an early morning incident in Nuneaton.
Officers stopped a silver VW Golf around 1.30am on Sunday morning (26 June) after they were concerned by the manner in which it was being driven.
As officers spoke to the occupants of the car, an unknown man is reported to have approached the vehicle and asked to buy drugs.
A search of the vehicle was subsequently carried out by officers who recovered a quantity of what is thought to be class A drugs, an axe, as well as a folded blade.
The driver attempted to flee the area but shortly afterwards a 22-year-old man from Coventry was arrested in Magyar Crescent on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possessing an offensive weapon. A 20-year-old woman from Nuneaton was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
Both individuals have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
PC Spellman said: “We remain committed to identifying and tackling the supply of drugs and would ask anyone who has concerns within their community to get in touch.
“Anyone with information can report in online via our website by calling 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Always call 999 in an emergency or if a crime is in action.”
