A man has been arrested in connection with an incident in Nuneaton earlier today (Thursday).
A teenage girl was walking along Queen Elizabeth Road between 8.10am and 8.15am when she was reportedly sexually assaulted.
This afternoon, following an image being released, a 28-year-old man from Nuneaton has been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape. He remains in police custody at this time.
Detective Inspector Owen Fell: “We’d like to reassure the local community that there will be targeted patrols in the area following this incident so if anyone has concerns, please speak to one of our officers.
“We have ensured the victim is now being supported by officers who are specially trained, and we will be conducting a number of lines of enquiry as part of our ongoing investigation.
“We'd ask anyone who has dashcam footage or was driving along Queen Elizabeth Road between 8.10am and 8.20am this morning to make contact with us."
Anyone who has information, dashcam footage or can help with the ongoing investigation is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 72 of 30 June.
