The family of a man who died following a collision in Atherstone at the weekend has paid tribute to him.
Officers were called to a three vehicle collision at the junction of Merevale Lane and Main Road in Baxterley shortly before 10.30am on Saturday (9 July).
The following morning – Michael Benn (pictured below) – died in hospital.
Paying tribute to the 91-year-old from Hartshill, his family said: "We would like to express our sadness following Michael’s tragic death.
“He was taken in devastating circumstances that have left us with heavy hearts.
“Michael was a happy-go-lucky gentleman who loved life, his cars and especially his family.
“Thank you to everyone who has showed support by sending love and well wishes. We are truly heartbroken.”
We are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision and are keen to speak to anyone who has any dashcam footage of the incident.
Anyone with information should report it online or call 101 quoting incident number 137 of 9 July.
