Warwickshire Police investigating a report of a sex attack in Rugby have arrested a 16-year-old boy.
The arrest comes after CCTV images were released of a male police wanted to speak to in connection with the attack, which is believed to have taken place in Little Church Street at around 2.45am yesterday (Saturday 23 July).
As a result of the public appeal, a boy is being questioned on suspicion of rape by detectives.
Detective Constable Richard Morgan from Rugby CID said: “I would like to thank everyone who contacted us following our appeal. The response led to us receiving information that helped identify a suspect and gather other helpful intelligence.”
Enquires are ongoing and anyone with information can call 101 quoting incident 72 of 23 July 2022. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
