Warwickshire Police is appealing for witnesses or information following a fatal collision in Nuneaton at the weekend.
Emergency services were called shortly after 1am on Sunday (17 July), to a report of a single vehicle collision on the B4114 Nuneaton Road between Over Whitacre and Church End, Hartshill.
The driver of a silver MG TF – 57-year-old Gary Franklin from Nuneaton – was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.
His family have issued the following appeal to him:
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Gary Edward Franklin, who sadly lost his life during the early hours of Sunday morning on the 17 July.
“Dad, or Franky, as he was affectionately known, leaves behind a huge hole in all our lives as a Father, Grandfather, Brother, Son and friend.
“His barbershop in the village of Whitestone was a centrepiece for the area and our Dad was the custodian of that, his smile and warmth to his customers is something we’ll remember dearly.
“We will all remember our Dad fondly for his lust for life, great passion for his football club Aston Villa and as a wonderful Dad and Grandparent over the course of his life.
“He’ll be sadly missed by us all and we respectfully ask for some privacy at this time.”
- Christopher, Kieren, Daniel and Hayden Franklin
