We are appealing for witnesses to a collision in Grendon to come forward.
It happened on the A5 at around 4.50am on Sunday (5 December) and involved a motorcycle.
The rider and a pillion passenger suffered serious injuries but they are not thought to be life-threatening at this time.
It is believed a number of vehicles may have been driven along the road in the aftermath of the collision.
Officers are particularly keen to speak to these drivers as well as any other witnesses or people who saw the motorcycle and the manner in which it was being ridden prior to the collision.
Enquiries are currently ongoing.
Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 72 of 5 December.
