Following a joint investigation between Warwickshire and West Midlands Police, Warwickshire Police have charged a man with a number of rapes and other sexual offences which took place in Nuneaton and Birmingham in the late 1990s.
Phillip Blackwell, 55, of Western Road, Launceston, Cornwall, was arrested on Wednesday (22 January) and was charged this morning (Sunday 26th January) with four counts of rape, an attempted rape and an indecent assault.
Blackwell will appear at Leamington Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday 27th January).

Rape of a woman in Yardley, Birmingham on 9th February 1997
Rape of a woman in Selly Oak, Birmingham on 22nd November 1997
Indecent Assault of a woman in Bournville, Birmingham on 21st December 1997
Attempt rape of a woman in Frankley, Birmingham on 3rd February 1998
Rape x 2 of a woman in Weddington, Nuneaton on 30th May 1998
