Men arrested for drugs offences in Rugby

A man from Northampton and a man from Rugby have been arrested as part of ongoing efforts to tackle drug crime in Rugby.

An 18-year-old man from Northampton was arrested on suspicion of possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply and possession of a knife. He has been bailed until next month while enquiries continue.

A 34-year-old man from Rugby was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

The men were arrested by plain clothed officers from Rugby Proactive CID after they spotted a suspected drug deal in Reservoir Road on Tuesday (20 April).

Officers seized suspected crack cocaine and a large machete.

Detective Constable Tom Quinlan from Rugby Proactive CID: "We are working hard to tackle drug dealing in Rugby. These arrests are part of our efforts to stop the supply of drugs and the violent crime associated with it."
