Roads policing operation - Bedworth

Officers from Bedworth conducted a roads policing operation in the town over the weekend.

On Friday and Saturday night, 11 breath tests were conducted on drivers in the town. Two traffic offence reports were issued for a vehicle being used without a valid MOT and a vehicle being driven at excess speed.

A 19-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of drug driving after he provided a positive roadside drug swipe.

Following the operation, PC Simon Dalby from Warwickshire Police said: "We are committed to improving road safety and to ensure that every effort is made to reduce the impact of the 'fatal four' in our area.Drug test Displays a larger version of this image in a new browser window

"Drink and/or drug driving, using a mobile phone while driving, speeding and not wearing a seatbelt are known as the fatal four and are the leading cause of death and injury on the roads in the UK.

"Driving under the influence could not only result in serious injury or loss of life, but may also see you receive a criminal conviction, lose your driving license or lose your job - all of which will negatively impact your personal and family life. It simply isn't worth the risk.

"I hope this operation highlights our continued determination to reducing serious collisions on our roads."
