Sergeant - OPU (Authorised Firearms Officer)

The closing date is Friday 2nd August 2019.

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for Home Office Authorised Firearms Officers to join our Operational Policing Unit (OPU) in the role of Sergeant. You will either be a substantive sergeant or be a Police Constable qualified for promotion.

In an ever changing world, where each day brings fresh challenges and complexity, the need for policing has never been greater. As an experienced officer, why should you consider progressing your career with Warwickshire Police?

You'll quickly find that no two days are the same. We have a strong family ethos, where our friendly teams work closely together to get the job done and where you will be treated as a valued member of the team from day one.

What's more, Warwickshire is a great place to live and work, combining densely-populated urban areas within a rich rural landscape. From historic market towns such as Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon and attractions such as Warwick Castle, to modern shopping in Rugby and Nuneaton or browsing the boutiques in elegant Royal Leamington Spa, there is something for everyone. Excellent transport links and a central location mean that this is an area which is easy to get to from any part of the country, while the close proximity to the West Midlands metropolitan area brings its own attractions.

Warwickshire Police can offer you a unique, challenging and rewarding career opportunity where you really can make a difference. Offering great staff benefits and career prospects, we have opportunities available for officers currently serving in Home Office forces in lateral transfer or on promotion.

• Provide 24/7 Armed Response cover, undertake the role of Operational Firearms Commander (OFC) and supervise firearms and roads policing teams

• Contribute to road safety by supervising traffic enforcement and collision investigation, as a Road Death Lead Investigator (RDLI)

• Respond to emergency response calls and support local policing

• Currently work a 4 on 4 off Shift Pattern.

The successful candidates will:

• Be current in all NPFTC modules contained within the ARV role profile

• Be able to achieve Level 9.4 Job Related Fitness Test (JRFT)

• Be medically fit and able to pass a medical

• Be serving in a recognised Home Office Force

• Be an accredited Operational Firearms Commander or display an aptitude to become one
