Witness Appeal - Assault

Officers are appealing for witnesses to an assault in Stratford Upon Avon. The incident happened at around 7.30pm on Saturday 18th May by the river next to the RSC (Royal Shakespeare Company).

A man in his 70's is reported to have been helping an injured swan when a man is believed to have approached and pushed him from behind, causing no injuries. Approximately one hour later at around 8.30pm the victim was verbally abused by the same man on the Banbury Road in Stratford.

The man, who is described as being white, 45 to 55 years old, and around 5ft 10in tall, was wearing a light coloured baseball cap and a long brown jacket.

Enquiries are currently ongoing and police are keen for anyone who saw the incident or was in the area at the time to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call Warwickshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting incident number 362 of the 18th May 2019.
