UPDATED: Two arrested in connection with Coleshill burglary

A man and woman have been arrested in connection with a burglary at a shop in Parkfield Road, Coleshill.

The burglary occurred at around 2am today (Tuesday 8 April). Witnesses reported that offenders pulled up in a car and smashed the front window to gain entry to the store.

Officers from the Operational Policing Unit spotted the suspects car while searching in Chelmsley Wood, Birmingham. The car failed to stop for the officers and a pursuit started with the suspect vehicle driving through red lights and on the wrong side of the road.

The car was stopped in Packington Avenue, Shard End, Birmingham, and a 37-year-old woman from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Another suspect ran from the car and West Midlands Police dogs were used to search the area. A 42-year-old man from Birmingham was found nearby and arrested on suspicion of burglary.

The two remain in police custody while enquiries continue.
