Increased Police Activity in Bedworth

Reassurance Message

Residents and elected members from the Bedworth area have raised concerns in relation to increased police activity over the past few weeks. In response to this the following message is intended to provide reassurance around the police presence that has been observed recently.

Officers from Warwickshire Police have been working alongside colleagues from West Midlands to tackle a number of issues relating to drugs and violence. This activity crossed between the Coventry and Warwickshire areas and required intensive periods of targeted activity. By working across force borders officers were able to share information quickly and take effective action.

A number of people have been arrested following the execution of search warrants and vehicle stops where both weapons and drugs were recovered. These people have been charged and remanded in custody awaiting trial on charges including:

· Conspire to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life or enable another to do so.

· Conspire to sell/transfer a pistol, it being a prohibited weapon.

· Conspire to supply a class A and Class B controlled drug

· Possession of a prohibited firearm.

Warwickshire Police are keen to reassure the community that the increase in activity over recent weeks has been carefully planned in order to minimise any risks to the wider public. Bedworth remains a great place to live, work and visit and there is no reason for anyone to change how they go about their daily business.

If anyone has any other specific concerns related to this then please contact your local Safer Neighbourhood Team to discuss them.
