Appeal over Bedworth phone theft

Police are appealing for help to catch a thief who stole a phone from a woman in Bedworth.

The theft took place at around 5pm on Saturday 16 March in Ambleside Road opposite Tarn Close.

The offender approached the victim, a woman in her 20s, as she was getting into her car.

He attempted to grab her handbag. A struggle ensued before the offender grabbed the victim's phone and fled along Kirkstone Road.

The offender is described as being a pale skinned male, around 5ft 9in tall, of average build, with messy ginger hair and unkempt gingery blond facial stubble.

PC Andy Dear said: "This was a shocking incident where a lone female was targeted for her handbag. Fortunately the victim was not injured but was left extremely shaken following the incident.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who saw someone acting suspiciously in the area or has any other information that could help with our enquiries."

Anyone with information can contact Warwickshire Police on 101. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
