Man attacked in Nuneaton burglary

A man was attacked with a blade after offenders forced their way into his home in Nuneaton.

Detectives are appealing for information following the aggravated burglary that happened at a house in Bermuda Village at around 12.05am today (Monday 1 April).

Two men gained entry to the house via the rear garden and attacked the occupant with the blade while demanding the keys to his car.

The offenders could not find the key and fled the scene with a mobile phone.

The victim, a man in his 30s, suffered serious knife wounds to his back, chest and leg. He was taken to hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. These are described as life changing.

Detective Inspector Paul Thompson from Nuneaton CID said: "This was a terrifying and horrific attack on a man in his own home that has left him with extremely serious injuries.

"An investigation is underway following the incident and we are appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time and seen anything suspicious to get in touch.

"We also want to speak to anyone who lives in or was driving in the area around the time of the offence who has CCTV systems or dashcam footage."
