Warwickshire Police operates a number of support networks to assist our staff on issues of race, gender, disability and sexuality.

The Women's  Network

The objectives for the network are:

  • To provide a network supporting women
  • To facilitate women to fulfil their potential
  • To work with others to progress diversity issues and to champion issues for women within the organisation.

A steering group co-ordinates activity and provides a point of reference. The steering group is made up of volunteers of all grades and ranks from many departments. The group work very closely with HR, and have the full support of the Chief Officer team. The strapline the network currently uses is "helping you to help yourself".

The Minority Support Network

The Minority Support Network is a resource and support network for Black and Minority Ethnic Staff, Community Support Officers, Special Constables and Police Officers working within Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police.

The aim of The Minority Support Network is to:

  • Work with Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police to support individuals belonging to Black and Minority Ethnic groups within the organisation and its wider community.
  • Support Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police to promote the aims of the Equalities Act 2010.

To meet these aims the Network provides support at three levels:


The Minority Support Network acts as a support group, on a one-to-one and group basis for Black and Minority Ethnic staff. A safe and secure environment is offered in which to discuss concerns. Support and sign posting is available to all Black Minority Ethnic Staff and Officers to address any matters relating to recruitment, retention and progression.


The Minority Support Network supports Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police by providing information and advice on issues of concern to Black and Minority Staff. The Network has representation at a number of key stakeholder forums including the Diversity Delivery Group, Strategic Diversity Group meetings and the JNCC policy consultation forum.


Network members are able to assist Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police engage with diverse communities and external partners. They can assist with trust and confidence building, and support organisational under representation by promoting Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police as an employer of choice.

The Network (Disability Support Group)

Their focus is to remove the barriers and push forward in promoting equality for both current and newly appointed members of staff who have a disability.


REN (Rainbow Employee Network)

 REN is a group especially for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender West Mercia police officers and police staff.


BPA (Black Police Association)

BPA has the aim of enhancing the working environment of minority ethnic personnel within the force with a view to improving the quality of service to the public.
