Eight year detention for 17-year-old boy after robbery in Nuneaton in November

A 17-year-old boy has received eight years detention after pleading guilty to robbery and possession of a firearm, following an incident at a property in Nuneaton on the evening of 6 November 2018.

He appeared at Coventry Youth Court  on  20 February 2019.

The boy, from the Wood End area of Coventry, was arrested in the West Midlands on 3 December and charged on 4 December. He appeared at Leamington Youth Court on 5 December and was remanded in custody.

Officers were called to the house at 8.34pm after three males wearing balaclavas forced entry to the property and threatened the occupants with a firearm. The offenders left with six watches and fled in a black BMW towards the Long Shoot.

Two offenders are still outstanding.

Detective Sergeant Carl Buckley said: "This was a very serious crime which caused real fear to the victims. The gravity of the crime is reflected by the length of the detention and sends a message that the courts will not tolerate this kind of behaviour."
