Appeal for witnesses to armed robbery at house in Keresley End

Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a house in Howat Road, Keresley End.

The incident occurred at around 8.35pm yesterday (Sunday 6 January). Two males forced entry to the house and threatened the occupants with a firearm.

They stole jewellery before leaving in what police believe was a silver Mercedes.

Armed officers and the dog unit were deployed to the scene and the police helicopter helped in the search for the offenders.

The offenders are described as being black.

Detective Inspector Dave Andrews said: "Nobody was injured in the incident but this was understandably a terrifying ordeal for the occupants and we will be offering them support.

"Burglaries involving firearms are extremely rare, but when they do occur they have a huge impact on those involved and the wider community. We have launched a thorough investigation to identify those responsible.

"We are appealing for information from the public; any information, no matter how small, may help us to identify the offenders."

Anyone with information which could help with the investigation can call Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting incident 316 of 7 January 2019.

Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or vial their website www.crimestoppers-uk.org
