Second boy charged after police officers injured in Bedworth incident

A second teenage boy has been charged after two police officers were injured in an incident at Tesco in Leicester Street, Bedworth at around 6.25pm on Friday (28 December).

Officers initially responded to a report of people taking drugs.

Upon arrival an altercation took place and the two officers suffered minor face injuries.

The boys were arrested and a knife and cannabis were seized.

The 16-year-old boy from Coventry was charged with assaulting a police officer and possession of cannabis.

A 15-year-old from Bedworth was previously charged with assaulting a police officer and possession of a knife.

Both boys will appear at Coventry Youth Court on 10 January.
