Boy charged after police officers injured in Bedworth incident

A teenage boy has been charged after two police officers were injured in an incident at Tesco in Leicester Street, Bedworth at around 6.25pm yesterday (Friday 28 December).

Officers initially responded to a report of people taking drugs.

Upon arrival an altercation took place and the two officers suffered minor face injuries.

The boys were arrested and a knife and cannabis were seized.

A 15-year-old boy from Bedworth was charged with assaulting a police officer and possession of a knife. He will appear at Coventry Youth Court on 10 January.

A 16-year-old boy from Coventry arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and possession of cannabis remains in police custody.
