Warwickshire Police showcases future careers at WorldSkills UK Live

Warwickshire Police will be showcasing careers in policing at the UK's largest skills, apprenticeships and careers event this week.

Formerly the Skills Show, WorldSkills UK Live will see thousands of youngsters from all over the UK flock to Birmingham's NEC on 15 - 17 November to find out about future careers and try hands-on job-related skills across a huge range of sectors.

Warwickshire Police will have a presence on a stand with police and fire service colleagues from across the country, including forces from West Mercia, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, West Midlands, Staffordshire and Thames Valley.

There will be a host of activities on the stand to attract visitors, including a police car, fire engine, interactive games, the Fire and Rescue Drone, virtual reality goggles and fingerprint keyrings. Delegates can also talk to people from a wide range of policing roles and receive careers advice.

Collectively, the police also have two slots on the Spotlight Stage, at 11am on Thursday 15 November and at 12noon on Friday 16 November. This will include people from a variety of roles giving a short presentation on what they do.

Alex Franklin-Smith, Assistant Chief Constable for Local Policing at Warwickshire Police, said: "This is a great platform to promote the range of careers available in the police - including support staff, apprentices and forensics - as well as police officers. WorldSkills UK is the biggest careers event in the country and a great opportunity for us to engage with young people.

"Last year, over 78,000 people visited from all over the UK, but as you can imagine, the vast majority of attendees were from the West Midlands region, including from Warwickshire.

"Most visitors will be 15 - 18 years old and about to make A-Level and degree choices, so this is an ideal opportunity to engage with our future workforce. With expert advice and so many interactive exhibits on the stand, there should be plenty to tempt visitors into a future police career in Warwickshire."
