Appeal for witnesses following assault - Nuneaton

Warwickshire Police is appealing for witnesses or information following an incident in Nuneaton last night (Sunday 4 November).

Police were called at 9pm to reports of an assault on Church Road. A 27-year old man was assaulted by a blunt weapon, and sustained injuries to his chest and abdomen.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. He has since been discharged.

A 28-year-old man from Nuneaton was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault. He is currently in police custody.

Armed officers attended as a matter of precaution. Road closures were in place whilst emergency services were in attendance.

Detective Inspector Lisa Sears, based in Nuneaton, said: "We are currently conducting a number of enquiries and are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident last night to please come forward.

"If you have any information, please call Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 389 of 4 November 2018."
