Knife surrender bins were placed at four police stations and 157 knives were surrendered during the week-long campaign which started on 18 September.

Items surrendered included a blade concealed in a walking stick, an ornate machete, zombie knives and hunting knives.

Superintendent Mike Smith said: "We're pleased that these knives have been taken off the streets and cannot be used to commit criminal offences.

"I'd like to remind people that you are more likely to be a victim of knife crime if you carry a knife. It gives people a false sense of invincibility when they carry a knife and they risk making decisions that put them in dangerous situations.

"We will continue to work to raise awareness of the dangers of carrying a knife and reduce knife crime in Warwickshire."
