UPDATED: Two men arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

Two men have been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of a man in Nuneaton.

A 20-year-old from Nuneaton and 24-year-old from Coventry were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and are currently being held in police custody.

The arrests have been made in connection with an incident in which a 38-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his leg at a flat in Nuneaton.

The incident happened at around 8.30pm last night (Monday 24 September) in Merevale Court.

Detective Inspector Neil Reader from Nuneaton CID said: "We are continuing to investigate the circumstances of this serious incident in which a man sustained a gunshot wound.

"The man remains in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries.

"At this time we believe the incident was a targeted attack and there was no wider risk to the public.

"I would like to thank the public for their assistance so far and encourage anyone with information who hasn't already spoken to us to get in touch as a matter of urgency, no mater how insignificant you think the information may be."

Anyone with information surrounding the incident is asked to call 101 quoting incident 400 of 24 September 2018.

Members of the public are also able to provide information online.

Furthermore, people can give information anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

UPDATE, 08.23, 26/09/2018: The two men have been bailed until October while investigations continue.
