Police ask public to help identify potential witness of assault at Hotel in Coleshill

Incident 530 of 29 June 2018

Police are asking the public to help identify a man (pictured in CCTV) who was in the area of The Coach Hotel, High Street Coleshill at around the time a serious assault was reported and may be a key witness.

The man is described as a black male, of chubby or stocky build with short dark hair. He was wearing a blue jacket, a t-shirt and jeans.

The incident is believed to have occurred at 23:00 hours on Friday 29 June 2018, when an unknown male entered The Coach Hotel, High Street Coleshill and attacked a man with a meat cleaver. The man is then believed to have run off in the direction of Maxstoke Lane after being restrained and removed from the premises by door staff. 

A man was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire for treatment to injuries in the form of lacerations to his left forearm and his chest.  The injuries are not believed to be life threatening or changing.

Following the incident, officers attended the scene, including a police dog team to close the pub to allow an investigation to commence. 

The premises is currently subject to a licencing review in conjunction with the council.
