Investigation ongoing following Nuneaton incident

An investigation is ongoing following an incident on Bull Street, Nuneaton in the early hours of Friday morning (29 June), in which a man sustained gunshot wounds.

The victim, aged in his late twenties, remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A cordon has now been removed and roads are open as normal.

Detective Chief Inspector Pete Hill from Warwickshire Police said: "A thorough investigation is ongoing and we have a number of officers conducting enquiries in relation to the incident.

"At this stage, it is being treated as an isolated incident and is believed to have been targeted, and we do not believe there is a wider threat to the public.

"Additional officers will remain in the area whilst we are carrying out enquiries and providing reassurance. We would continue to ask anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to please come forward or speak with a local officer."

Anyone with information is asked to call Warwickshire Police on 101, quoting incident reference 48 of 29 June 2018.
