Police warn of road closures as the OVO Energy Women's Tour returns to Warwickshire

Police are warning people travelling in and around Warwickshire on Friday (15 June) to plan their journey to avoid road closures in place for the OVO Energy Women's Tour.

Stage 3 of the bike race starts in Atherstone at 10am and will conclude in Leamington at around

Road closures will be managed by the event organisers and will be in place throughout the day in Atherstone and Leamington.

Rolling closures will be in place throughout the day as the race passes through the county.

Chief Inspector Jim Baker said: "We're delighted to be supporting the women's tour in Warwickshire; it's a great event for the county and we hope as many people as possible will come out to support the riders.

"There will be road closures in place throughout the day to allow the race to pass through and we'd urge people to plan their journeys accordingly."

Race start - Atherstone

The race starts in Atherstone at 10am. The following roads will be shut for most of the morning:

  • North Street (from Sheepy Road to Long Street)
  • Witherley Road (from North Street to Long Street)
  • Ratcliffe Street (from North Street to Long Street)
  • Long Street (from Station Street to North Street)
  • Derby Lane (between North Church Street and Market street)

The following roads will be shut for most of the day:

  • Sheepy Road (between Windmill Road and Church Street)
  • Market Street (from North Street to Long Street)
  • Church Street (between Long Street and North Street)

Race finish - Leamington

The race will finish in Leamington at around 2pm.

The following roads will be closed at various points in the afternoon.

  • Newbold Terrace (from Willes Road to The Parade)
  • Euston Place (from Newbold Terrace to Hamilton Terrace)
  • Rosefield Street (from junction with Newbold Street)
  • Newbold Street (from Newbold Terrace to Hamilton Terrace)
  • Hamilton Terrace (From Parade to Regent Grove)
  • Willes Road (from Radford Road to Leam Terrace)

Rolling road closures - these will be put in place throughout the day to allow the cyclists to pass through. Times are estimates and dependent upon the speed of the race.
