Appeal by police over Stratford sexual assault

Police have appealed for information about a sexual assault in Stratford at the weekend.

The incident happened at around 1am on Saturday (2 June) in an area near Clopton Road and Arthur Road.

Police were alerted after local people heard the victim, a woman in her 30s, shout for help.

The suspect is described as being 30-40 years old, and having a foreign sounding accent.

Detective Sergeant Alistair Knight said: "We are currently following a number of lines of enquiry and have a police presence in the area to provide reassurance to the community.

"This was a frightening and distressing experience for the victim and we want to find the man responsible."
