Man jailed for rape and sexual assault

A 51-year-old man has been jailed for 17 years for sexual offences he committed between 2010 and 2014.

A warrant was issued on 29 January by Warwick Crown Court, where Wayne Domeney failed to appear to face charges relating to a number of sexual offences, including rape and causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

Domeney, formerly of Bulkington, near Bedworth, was convicted in his absence and appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday (23 March) for sentencing, he was found guilty of an additional charge of failing to appear for trial for which he was sentenced to four months in prison.

Domeney now of Generation Place, Consett, County Durham, was found guilty of:
One count of rape of a female under 13
Three counts of rape of a female aged 13-15
One count of assault of a girl under 13 by penetration
One count of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child aged 13-15
One count of causing to incite a child to engage in sexual activity
One count of witness intimidation

Investigating officer Detective Constable Kate Williams from Warwickshire Police said: "Domeney's actions have resulted in lifelong consequences for his victim who is still coming to terms with what he did.

"Now that he is behind bars for a substantial length of time I hope she feel a sense of justice for the trauma he caused.

"She showed tremendous courage in talking to us about her experience and I hope this conviction will also encourage other victims to report offences to us.

It doesn't matter when the assaults happened, where they took place or who did it - we will take every report seriously and help provide support."
