Appeals process

To comply with the principles of the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR), Data Protection requirements, the Vetting Code of Practice and the Approved Professional Practice (APP), the following appeals process is in place:

If an applicant has been refused vetting clearance, an appeal may be made by the applicant in writing stating their grounds of appeal. This letter is sent to the case officer in the vetting department within 14 days. The applicant's full application, reasons of refusal and the applicant's letter of appeal will be sent to the appeals panel, which is chaired by the Deputy Chief Constable (DCC). Once a final decision is made we will notify the company and applicant.
