Witness appeal after robbery at Nuneaton house

Detectives from Warwickshire Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a robbery at a property on Barpool Road last night (7 February).

Officers were called to the scene shortly after 7.30pm, following a report of four men forcing entry into the property.

The men, described as white, wearing masks and carrying a hammer and a bladed article, are reported to have demanded money from the occupants of the house.

They left in an unknown direction with an amount of cash and jewellery.

Detective Sergeant David Andrews of Nuneaton CID said:

"We're thankful no one was injured during this incident, but it was clearly a distressing ordeal for the victims which resulted in family jewellery with great sentimental value being stolen.

"I'd like to reassure local residents that incidents like this are rare, and there will be extra officers in the area today to provide reassurance as our enquiries continue.

"We'd like to speak to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area last night - no matter how small the details may seem, you could have important information that could help investigations."

Please call Warwickshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 348 of 7 February if you can help or alternatively, you can make a report anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website www.crimestoppers-uk.org
