Registered Firearms Dealer (RFDs)

A dealer is defined at Section 57(4) of the Firearms Act 1968 as a person or a corporate body who, by way of trade of business: manufactures, sells, transfers, repairs, tests or proves firearms or ammunition to which Section 1 of this Act applies, or shotguns; or sells or transfers air weapons. Firearms dealers are not authorised to trade in prohibited weapons without the Secretary of State's authority.

A Good Practice Guide for RFD's has been issued by the National Police Chiefs Council and can be found here.
