Did you witness an assault in Bedworth?

Investigating officers have exhausted all lines of enquiry and are appealing for witnesses who may have seen an assault take place on Sunday 23 July in Bedworth.

It is believed that prior to the assault the victim's vehicle, a blue Peugeot 206, had been in collision with a van at around 10.10pm outside the Royal Oak pub on Royal Oak Lane.
 
It is reported that the two victims later returned to the scene of the collision and, whilst there, five unknown men have also arrived at the same location in a red Volkswagen Golf and descended upon them.
 
Both victims have been assaulted by the group of men with one of the offenders believed to have been carrying a metal object. One of the victims, a man in his 50 received facial and abdominal injuries and was taken to hospital. The other victim, a man in his 20s received minor facial injuries and was also treated at hospital.
 
We have no details of the offender's descriptions.
 
Detective Sergeant Carl Buckley of Warwickshire Police, said: "As part of our on-going investigation we are trying to establish the circumstances that lead up to the incident.
 
"I am therefore appealing to anyone who had been driving along Royal Oak Lane prior to the incident, or had been in the area at the time to come forward.
 
"We would especially like to speak to anyone who may have seen the offenders and can recall their descriptions "

Update issued: 2:15pm, Wednesday 16 August 2017 -  We would like to clarify that the Royal Oak Pub has merely been used as a point of reference following reports of the assault. It had been closed at the time and had no involvement in the incident.
