Hate crime in Warwickshire

Hate crime is a priority for Warwickshire Police. The issue is a standing agenda item on the regular meetings of the independent advisory groups (IAGs). The IAGs look at wide range of issues connected to hate crime including:

  • Reporting facilities
  • Supporting black and minority ethnic communities
  • Bullying and hate incidents in schools
  • #WeStandTogether campaign
  • Prevent and Big Conversation events

Hate incident partnerships (HIPs) have now been set up for the north and south of the county. The outcomes of these meetings are fed back to the countywide hate crime group and help to shape the county wide hate crime action plan.

The Safe Place scheme is progressing well with 50 premises now designated as safe places in the county. Consideration is being given to training some of these sites to act as third party reporting centres.
