Man arrested following assault in Nuneaton

A man has been arrested following an assault in Nuneaton this morning.

Shortly after 1.15am today (Saturday, 27 May) police were called to Coronation Court, Nuneaton, following a report that a man had been injured.

Officers attended and found that a 42-year-old man had been assaulted and suffered a serious injury to his head, he was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.

Police believe the incident happened outside a residential address in Coronation Court and a 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding. He remains in police custody at this time.

Detective Sergeant Carl Buckley said:" We have been carrying out a significant number of enquiries and have arrested a man in connection with the wounding incident, we believe the people involved are known to each other.

"We are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen what happened to get in touch, the area would have been busy at the time, with pubs and bars closing and it being the start of the Bank Holiday weekend, if you were in the Queens Road area of Nuneaton at that time, please call police on 101 quoting reference 35 of 27 May 2017."
