Witnesses sought to assault in Rugby

Investigating officers in Rugby are appealing for information following an unprovoked assault in the town.

It happened outside Rugby Lions Rugby Club on Webb Ellis Road at around 12.15am on Saturday (18 February).

An 18-year-old man was outside when he is reported to have been physically attacked and hit to the back of the head with an unknown item.

He suffered cuts to his head and was treated at the scene by ambulance staff.  

Enquiries are currently ongoing but officers are keen for anyone who saw the assault, who witnessed anyone acting suspiciously or who was in the area at the time of the incident to come forward.

A fund-raising event is believed to have taken place at the premises that evening and officers are also keen to speak with anyone who attended to see if they can help with the investigation.
