C235911 Carol Cotterill


Carol is the Rural Crime Officer for Warwickshire North, a post funded by the Office of the Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner since 2014.  She covers the rural areas of North Warwickshire district, Nuneaton & Bedworth and Rugby, working from the Safer Neighbourhoods Team office in Atherstone.  Carol works closely with the local beat officers, Crime Prevention Advisor, Community Safety Partnership team and other partners to address crime in our rural areas and provide crime prevention advice.  One of the initiatives Carol has introduced is the Warwickshire Rural Watch website which provides lots of information to help and support communities.

Carol is also a Police Support Volunteer with Warwickshire Police which she has done for over 7 years.  She has helped set up Warwickshire Horse Watch ( an award winning proactive scheme to address equine crime and also Warwickshire Rural Watch.  As a PSV Carol has received the British Empire Medal (BEM) from Her Majesty the Queen, a commendation from the Chief Constable, been recognised as a Community Champion attending Downing Street to meet the Prime Minister and received a Highly Commended National Award by the British Association of Women in Policing. 

Carol is passionate about rural and equine crime, coming from a farming background and owning horses herself.  Her role is key in supporting officers on rural beats and addressing crime in rural communities.
