    On 2 January 2017 Warwickshire Police Special Constables Sian Atkins. Kieran Dempsey and Scott McKinnell were on foot patrol as part of Operation Anglesey in the Meadow Court area of Nuneaton when they encountered a man who they believed was acting suspiciously.

    Warwickshire Police officers and Special Constables, working with the Anti Counterfeiting Group (ACG) and National Markets Group (NMG), seized nearly £3.5 million in suspected counterfeit and unsafe goods from Wellesbourne Airfield Market on Saturday, 10 December 2016.

  • Operation Broomhill: Halloween and Bonfire Night

    Operation Broomhill was a local operation in relation to an increase in anti-social behaviour (ASB) and low level crime within the Bilton and Cawston area of Rugby. The aim of the operation was to provide a uniformed presence around the area to reassure local residents, engage with the community and to robustly deal with ASB.

    Between 5:00pm on the evening of 31 October and 2:00am on the morning of 1 November 2016 nine Special Constables worked from Atherstone and Coleshill Police Stations to prevent and deter anti-social behaviour and provide reassurance to the public on Halloween.

    A new team of Special Constables is proactively tackling crime across South Warwickshire. The South Warwickshire Special Constabulary Priorities Team (or Specials Priorities Team [SPT]) is made up of 17 skilled Special Constables who take on priorities identified by Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNTs) across the south of the county.

  • Special Constables support Warwickshire Pride

    Warwickshire Police Special Constables, with colleagues from the Leamington Town Centre Safer Neighbourhood Team, provided a high visibility presence at the fourth Warwickshire Pride event in Leamington Spa on 20 August 2016. Their attendance at the Pump Room Gardens was supported by a dog handler with dogs, a marked police car and a Rural Crime Matters vehicle.

  • Revel Community Summer Fayre (16 July 2016)

    This prestigious Monks Kirby community event was created and organised by a committee which included local businesses, faith groups, schools and scouts groups in north eastern Warwickshire. Every year this family friendly event raises thousands of pounds for local charities, organisations and businesses, with approximately 4,000 people attending the event and enjoying a 'day out in the countryside'.

  • Operation Eager (13 July 2016)

    Two Special Constables from Warwickshire Police took part in Operation Eager, a multi-agency Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) initiative in the Ash Green area of the county on 13 July 2016.

  • Proactive patrols in Coleshill, North Warwickshire

    Special Constables have been supporting the North Warwickshire South Safer Neighbourhood Team, undertaking regular proactive patrols focusing on issues in the Coleshill area. These include speed gun patrols, and responding to concerns about bikers and 'boy racers'.

    The Polesworth Carnival in North Warwickshire celebrated its 80th year of bringing communities together on Saturday, 2 July 2016.

  • Leamington Peace Festival (18-19 June 2016)

    Warwickshire Police Special Constables supported this year's Leamington Peace Festival on 18 and 19 June 2016, working with a number of partner organisations, including Warwick District Council Street Marshals, Leamington Peace Festival committee and St John Ambulance to provide community reassurance.

  • National Specials Weekend (Sunday): Atherstone

    While on duty during National Specials Weekend, Special Constables arrested a driver following a single car road traffic collision in Atherstone, North Warwickshire. The driver failed a breath test and had no MOT.

    28 January 2016: The Leamington Spa Town Centre Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) carried out a range of activities including drugs warrants, the arrest of beggars, and speed checks. They sought to integrate officers from the Special Constabulary with the team and to develop working relationships for future events.

    21 January 2016: the Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police Special Constabulary Team attended City of Wolverhampton College's Wellington Road Campus.

  • Assessment Centre welcomes more candidates for Special Constabulary

    16 January 2016: 18 candidates took part in the latest Special Constabulary Assessment Centre at Hindlip Hall, Worcestershire.

  • Special Constables contribute to success of Operation Albion

    On 12 and 13 January 2016 Warwickshire Police Special Constables took part in Operation Albion, which was intended to prevent criminal use of the roads in the county and deal with traffic offences. A number of people were arrested, several vehicles were seized and traffic offence reports were issued that are likely to result in fines and points being endorsed on driving licences.

  • Special Constables' actions contribute to reduction in antisocial behaviour

    In November 2015, after a chase on foot, two Special Constables caught two youths who had been responsible for weeks of antisocial behaviour in the Leamington Spa area.

    6 November 2015: Warwickshire Police Special Constables have been praised for their professionalism when supporting regular officers dealing with an extremely serious incident over the weekend of 30 and 31 October 2015.

  • Role of Special Constables acknowledged at police awards ceremonies

    Warwickshire Police officers and staff received commendations at the Chief Constable Commendation Awards evening on 14 October 2015. The awards were presented by Chief Constable Martin Jelley and Warwickshire Lord Lieutenant Timothy Cox.
