Your role may include visible operation patrols to enhance public confidence, crime reduction initiatives, disorder incidents, policing local events.
Subject to training, you may also have the opportunity to become involved in other activities such as road policing, victim support, drug searches, custody, traffic management and accident scenes and crime operations.

What we ask of you
- Time
- A minimum of four hours of your time each week (average of 16 hours per month) – more if you can spare it, training, experience and commitment can lead to further responsibility.
- Where will you be based?
- Usually within your local area and you can nominate your preferred police station. Convenience of access, travel and travel costs will all be taken into consideration.
- Age & fitness
- The minimum age to apply is 18. You must be in good health with normal vision, corrected if necessary with spectacles or contact lenses.
- Height
- You can be any height – you don't have to be 6 feet tall.
- Nationality
- You must be a national of the European Union or, have the right to reside in this country without restriction. You MUST have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years or more.
- Qualifications
- None, we just ask for honesty and integrity, a positive approach, that you are able to work in a team and willing to learn new skills. If you have been convicted or cautioned you may still be eligible for appointment. However, failure to disclose details could count against you.
- Prohibited Occupations
- Certain occupations are regarded as being in possible conflict with work as a police officer. If your work falls into one of these categories you will be advised immediately.
